I have previously written about the importance of Australia to Human Appeal International’s fund raising efforts.Amongst other matters I wrote that HAI continues to finance various activities in Australia often in conjunction with the Muslim Community Co-operative Australia(MCCA) , a shariah compliant financier which is headed by one Dr Rahim Ghouse,a business associate of the SDGT Yassin Al-Kadi. (http://www.terrorfinance.org/the_terror_finance_blog/2006/08/human_appealter.html)
HAI’s fundraising activities in Australia continue unabated, its links within the Australian Muslim community becoming ever more complex, benefiting from the growing market in Australia for Shariah compliant or halal goods and services.
In November 2006 Diversity Connect International of Melbourne Australia organized what it called “ a family fund raiser …..to collect donations for the victims of war in Lebanon and Palestine- proceeds will be passed onto Human Appeal International.”
Diversity Connect International is owned and managed by one Yasser Soliman (http://diversityconnect.com.au/)
Yasser Soliman is also chairman and a shareholder of International Halal Management Pty Ltd(Ilham), an Australian incorporated company that “focuses on the promotion of the halal industry in Australia.”( http://www.ilhamaustralia.com.au).
Ilham’s main shareholder and CEO is Zulfikar Mohamaed Shariff, who was previously marketing manager for the Muslim Community Co-Operative Australia(MCCA), which continues to be headed by the SDGT Yassin Al-Kadi’s business associate, Dr Rahim Ghouse.
The MCCA provides financial support for at least some of Ilham's activities(see http://www.ilhamaustralia.com.au/?id=activities&product_id=1)
Zulfikar featured prominently in the case of another company linked to Al-Kadi and Ghouse, Commercial IBT Pty Ltd. (http://www.abc.net.au/rn/backgroundbriefing/stories/2006/1754286.htm)
Yasser Soliman was formerly chairman of the Islamic Council of Victoria. In November 2003 , the Melbourne Age reported that "The Islamic Council of Victoria funded Afghan fundamentalists in the 1990s." Yasser Soliman was reported to have said the council gave no support to the mujahideen after September 11 (2001) and never had contact with the Taliban.
(Report archived at http://www.turks.us/article~story~20031110003047237.htm)
In a written response to queries concerning that matter from this writer Soliman said:
To my understanding ICV passed the money collected through donations to the Afghani Rep on the understanding that it was to go to orphans and widow not to anything to do with fighting… The story refers to the humanitarian aid activities back more than 10 – 15 years ago. Same time as, USA and other western governments were supporting, training and funding the Afghan Mujahideen against the Russians.
According to my own monitoring, thousands of persons in the world get the loan from various banks. Thence, there's a good chance to get a financial loan in every country.
