Australian Donna Mulhearn was a human shield in Baghdad during the 2003 invasion.
She recently wrote:
The invasion was illegal, the occupation is immoral and it has profoundly damaged Australia. We need to withdraw because it is the right thing to do. John Howard will make dramatic statements this week about encouraging terrorists, all the while ignoring the elephant in the room. The Iraq war has increased terrorism. It has bred it and fuelled it. The continued foreign occupation of Iraq will guarantee this continues. The truth about responding to terrorism is that your safety is ensured when your enemy becomes your friend. A sound foreign policy that builds better relationships with your neighbours will be your protection. Your humanity is your security. That's the truth. (

Menwhile, Mulhearn has , and/or continues to work with Muslim Aid Australia.
When [she] returned to Iraq, she set up shelters for the homeless, working with poor families and with those in refugee camps. She also set up a children's centre responding to the issue of post-traumatic stress disorder. "I was very impressed by the Muslim Aid organisation. It is a very good organisation, very professional. They do excellent projects and have excellent ideas."
Her work in Iraq with Muslim Aid also involved or still involves a project called "Our Home – Iraq" :
"Our Home – Iraq" : provides shelter and care to street children in Iraq as well as support to other needy children and poor families. Our Home has been assisted in its fund-raising efforts by "Muslim Aid Australia".
Like Muslim Aid, Mulhearn has also chosen to not respond to queries sent her.
She was asked to provide all details of any work or projects undertaken with Muslim Aid ,and it was put to her that funds she has been collecting in conjunction with Muslim Aid may also be financing those who are fighting Coalition troops.
