Karzai says "certain governments " still funding Taliban & Al-Qaeda

An interview with Afghanistan's president Hamid Karzai was aired on Australia's ABC Lateline on Tuesday 15 October 2007.
The following excerpt concerns the financing of the Taliban and Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan:
TONY JONES: But it's not easy to fund an insurgency. Where do you believe the Taliban's funding is coming from, and can we do anything to stop it?

HAMID KARZAI: Funding from various sources. Money from the region, money beyond this region that was coming to them for so many years. Backing by certain governments in the past as we all know about.
